Over The Art of Hmm
Guido Stoop (St-Agatha-Berchem, 1962) is een Nederlandstalig kunstschilder en beeldhouwer.
Hij volgde enkele initiatielessen rond het werken met olieverf bij kunstenaar Jef Bertels. Voor de rest is hij autodidact. Hij creëert kleurrijke werken onder de artiestennaam The Art of Hmm.
In zijn werken kiest hij resoluut voor olieverf en creëerde hij ‘De Reiziger’. ‘De Reiziger’ is een bronzen figuurtje, getekend door weer en wind, dat symbool staat voor het steeds op weg zijn van de mens.
Centraal bij elk werk zijn de kleuren en de muze van het moment. Een schilderij wordt niet op voorhand uitgedacht of geconcipieerd. Het ontstaat op het moment dat de borstel in de verf strijkt .
Zijn inspiratie haalt hij uit zijn rusteloze geest. Zodra er kleur gezet wordt op doek of paneel, komt het werk langzaam maar zeker tot leven. En terwijl hij schildert, verandert het, wijzigt het op het ritme van zijn gedachten. Elk van zijn werken is als een levend wezen dat in gesprek gaat met diegene die kijkt.
Hij nam deel aan verschillende kunstroutes en organiseerde een eerste solotentoonstelling ‘Art & Hope’ aan De Vaartkom te Leuven (mei 2019). Een 70-tal werken zijn in privé bezit.

Guido Stoop (St-Agatha-Berchem, 1962) is a Dutch-speaking painter and sculptor.
He followed a few initiation lessons on working with oil paint with artist Jef Bertels. For the rest he is self-taught. He creates colorful works under the stage name The Art of Hmm.
In his works he resolutely opts for oil paint and created 'The Traveler'. 'The Traveller' is a bronze figure, drawn by wind and weather, which symbolizes that man is always on the move.
Central to each work are the colors and the muse of the moment. A painting is not thought out or conceived in advance. It is created when the brush strokes into the paint.
He draws his inspiration from his restless mind. As soon as color is put on canvas or panel, the work slowly but surely comes to life. And as he paints, it changes, changes to the rhythm of his thoughts. Each of his works is like a living being who enters into conversation with the one who is watching.
He participated in various art routes and organized a first solo exhibition 'Art & Hope' at De Vaartkom in Leuven (May 2019). Some 70 works are privately owned.
